| Has anyone seen this HBO film....I read that CT plays a gay military chap and it all goes horribly wrong.
I have tried to find it on amazon but all it comes up with is some film with Bryon Brown [?] in it. |

| Yes I have seen it and Connor is really good. It was a stage to screen show and is very obviously a filmed play. I have tried to get my hands on a copy but it is very difficult - a friend in the States finally sent me a copy but I can't get my computer to play it.

| Connor's the best actor in the play. It's set in Japan in the 50's and he is a naval officer in charge of records and classified documents. If you think in terms of multiple plots (A & B), his is the B storyline. He is the friend of the lead, who has a whole other story.
Connor's character, Bob, is supposed to go home on a limited leave because his father is dying. (The character is from Oklahoma, so it's Connor, in uniform, with an accent - again!) The friend is supposed to take charge of the Top Secret documents while Bob is away and discovers that one is missing. He won't let Bob leave until he admits where the document is. Bob admits that he's gay and that he's being blackmailed by a Japanese guy that he slept with. The friend threatens to turn Bob in if he doesn't admit everything to the Commanding Officer. Bob goes to the CO and is immediately arrested.
Before admitting he was gay, he hid it by having a pic of a girl, saying he was engaged, and that he didn't "kiss and tell", thereby getting out of conversations. Later, the friend goes to visit Bob in Tokoyo, where he's being held until he's discharged. The friend is actually good about not being a homophobe. Bob admits that he's concerned for his future, but he's glad that he is finally admitting who he is. He does not want to hide any more.
Connor was in about six scenes, but they are the best in the play. I thought the other storyline (and the other actors) were awful.

| This one is not an HBO film, it's from PBS, Public Broadcasting System. It was part of a program called Stage on Screen, in which, they filmed a play being done live and showed it on public television.
The HBO film he was in was 61*. The Billy Crystal baseball movie about the home run race between Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris. Connor only has one scene and plays a sports journalist.

| | I don't think so - I looked everywhere. It is so aggravating about the copy I have - my computer recognises something is there and comes with the menu Stage on Screen but when I double click nothing happens. The copy she sent me of the baseball film does the same thing but I am not so worried about that as apparently Connor is only in it for about 30 seconds. The copy of Pensacola Wings of Golds worked fine though - weird. TMG's analysis above sums it up though - Connor was the best thing in Far East by a long way.

| I really like films set in WWII, don't know why, they just do. I wouldn't mind seeing Far East, is there a DVD or VHS version of it which I can obtain? I'm not certain about the storyline, I'm not sure if that appeals to me very much.
