| Report pt 2
I decided to buy some more Enterprise photo's including a group shot [have to get everyone now] and after about 3 hours we went to see him again. And had a much longer chat. I asked him about future work and he said that it was very quiet in L A at the moment and that he was doing some more cons and hanging out with his son....bless him. I then asked if he was going to appear in Close to Home again. He said he was going to but thought that the show had been cancelled which was a shame because he had really enjoyed playing that part and there had been talk about him reprising the role.
We then went on to talk about Far East. He said he was so proud of that role and that for him it was an important break through and that the cast were really pleased that it was filmed because it meant that the performance was captured for prosperity.
I then asked about Stargate Atlantis and asked if he was wearing any make-up in the new episodes and he replied 'loads' and that it was really uncomfortable and hot, especially the contact lenses.
In all this time my sister was happily snapping away. Got some fab shots which you will see on Q's Expo site at some point.
I then asked him if he knew that Manny Coto had said on the commentry for Similitude that Connor should have been awarded an emmy for his performance. He was very surpried and highly amused but did seem touched by the comment.
After that we sat down to wait for the offical photo opp, and as Connors time got close he got up from behind his table and made sure he picked up the shirt i had made. [I was sure he would forget it]. Sis was doing a bit of filming then and when he saw her he gave her a real Trip look [sweet].
I had 2 photo;s with him and yes he did puy the shirt on specially for me. When he put it on [over his own t-shirt] I went into costume person mode and started to help him do it up. I laughed and said 'sorry, just doing the costume thing and he laughed back and said i know. [Obviously used to costume people fussing over him]. Had two good pics, one with a feally big hug...swoon..[ thank god the shirt fitted]. While we were having the photo's taken he said he loved the material i had used and i said that there was not another shirt like it in the world....got a nice smile for that.
It was a fab experience and i was not as nervous as i thought i would be. I think that was down to the fact that Connor is such a nice person and makes you feel at ease. He was very relaxed and happy to chat. [Thankfully the stewards around him were smilely and did not grump at us spending so much time with him] He was in pain though because of an incident with his suitcase, he hurt his foot trying to move his case along, and he made a joke about sis taking a photo of him trying to swallow a huge painkiller.[She didn't by the way].
He still had his beard but it looked good. My respect for him has shot through the roof. What a fine actor and a warm and friendly chap who really enjoys meeting his fans.
I would like to add that my sister has noe been completely converted and wants to watch the entire Enterpris series. She even had an offical photo with him....bless.

| | Sounds like you had a wonderful experience there, Paris. You almost make me jealous! And yeah, Coonor is all that and even more, I guess that's we we like him so much. Your story proves something to me that I have been saying all along: this guy needs a table. He did not have one at FedCon and then it is very hard to catch him for a chat like you did, you mostly meet him when he is doing some official business and if you want to meet him outside of that you have to get lucky. I got that lucky once or twice so I completely recognize what you told us. So, next time, I am going to make an effort to come to events like that. Hopefully, later this year we will come to Gmex2 in Manchester. Might be nice if Connor gets there too....

I just checked and Close to Home has not been cancelled and is expected back next season, so let's keep our fingers crossed that Eric Foster returns!!!! (I'm so glad you asked about that!)

| | I have to say I was so nervous when I talked to Connor and the other guests such as Robert Picardo for example. You know what I am like, even though I felt intimidated and nervous, the words still came out (not necessarily in the right order, but they came out) and I really enjoyed meeting them. Connor was great, Paris made a shirt for him and he loved it. I said "If I had an item of clothing to give to you, I would give you it but I don't" and he replied "Have you got any money?" LOL. I told him my birthday was the same as his and he said "March 19th?" and I said "Yes, you're slightly older than I am". He said "I'm getting long in the tooth" and commented that it was all surgery. I asked him "Is there anyone you recommend?" and he replied "Its all patchwork"! I shook his hand (I held my hand out nervously) and then later on when I had my photograph taken with him, he held his hand out and returned the gesture. He's a really nice chap actually. He came across as quite laid back, I dare say even slight reserved, but when he had something to say he said it. I said to him "I've been watching Star Trek since I was this high, even lower than that (placing my hand near the floor) and I have to say that Enterprise was my favourite series, basically because of the quality of acting, yourself included." And quite modestly, he looked deep in thought and said "Thanks". Robert Picardo commented on someone asking him "How do you get your head so shiny?" LOL. When I spoke to him, I said I had been watching Trek shows for years and I think the Holographic Doctor was one of my favourite characters in Voyager. He asked me "Did your father get you in to Trek?" and I said "No, not at all. I just stemmed from watching the original series". Again, I was quite nervous. I had such a cool time.

He did say that he did not want to start any rumours, but he believed that it had been cancelled.
Had to log out quick last night.
It was lovely to meet Q, he is quite shy really, god knows what he really thought of me and my sister,[we are both a bit mad].
This may seem an odd thing to say but i think i was less nervous at meeting Connor because with the beard and hair style he did not look like any of the characters that he has played, thus somehow it was easier to relate to him as a person and not as someone famous.........do not know if that sounds how i mean it to.
The one thing that was the same though was the looks and mannerisms. You could totally see Trip in the sly glances and expressions.
The trouble now is i am on bit of a post convention downer. This always happens, because i enjoy myself so much and can not really chat to my hubby about it all. I kind of go into a quiet thoughtful mode. Never mind i will be back to normal [?] in a couple of days.......got the wet camping to look forward to. |

Never mind i will be back to normal [?] in a couple of days.......got the wet camping to look forward to. It was really funny at the Q&A for Conner yesterday. I asked two questions. The first I asked was "What aspects of Trip did you find admirable?" and he basically replied his honnesty, his eagerness to fight a good cause and so on. The second question I was going to ask him was "What made you become an actor?" - but someone beet me to it! LOL. I was next in line for the microphone and I had to think of something quick! I don't know why but I just thought in a panick - 'first thing that comes in your head, first thing that comes in you head' so I was given the microphone and I said "When you're a signing autographs, have you ever cocked one up?"!!! He didn't understand the phrased 'cocked up' (which is basically what I had just done) so I had to rephrase the question "Have you ever made a mistake signing autographs?" Audience started laughing!
