I don't mind spiders - I can pick them up unless they those massive sheep eating ones with fur. Like you I hate heights for the same reason. I have a phobia for dolls (don't know why except they are evil). I have also a phobia towards soggy tea bags because they are evil as well. Somebody left one on my desk once and I went into a frenzy which resulted in a lot of bad language. I think that is because my Grandad used to fling them at me on a teaspoon when I was legs eleven. I have never forgiven him for that. I don't like the way doll's eyes follow you around a room - spooky!! Yeah I know. Its like the fish counter in the supermarket. All those dead fish watching you. (I'm always talking about supermarkets arn't I?). Dolls just scare the hell out of me - weird isn't it? I remember seeing a movie about a ventriloquist's doll that came to life - it freaked me out...... Sounds like something Stephen King would write - I bet it was as well!

| | Linda could be a positive influence not only on conquering her phobias and fears but how it was all new to her (exploring space). I think her character matured through the four seasons (sounds like classical music) and evolved not into an over-confident monster - but gave her a certain strength. It was character building to her - which could be a positive influence on people today. I have taken Star Trek to bed with me for many years (to coin a phrase) and has been a major influence on me since the days of Kirk, Spock and McCoy and throughout tng, ds9 and Voyager through to Enterprise. Because I have never missed an episode in any series, it has bound to have had an influence and I think (or hope) one for the better. I think that is so cool. I think Linda's compassion for others is a positive influence on people and her sensibilty.
