so much to do and I work for a tyrant in the shape of a mouse..... but yeah, I am going to try and hit the big ones when/if I can. I just can never be sure I'll be able to get the time off etc until nearer the cons.

but next summer I've got all the time in the world

You are a lucky person.  Mind you, I usually spend the summer in the US... and this year all being well might get over there with VIF.  (Working as a teacher).  I came rather late to the 'con' trail, and I have been bitten by the bug.

my con report is up at my lj, it's only public for a short time so read it now if you want to before I hide it away!

Sounds like you had an absolutlely wonderful time Lindsey.     I wish I could have been there, but unfortunately school is in session and my children need me.  Hope to make it to Manchester though.

All this talk about cons and I'm stuck in the house. :p  Back in '99 I was going to one every two months, flying (or driving) all over the green earth to /get/ to 'em but going anyway.  After that it was driving up to New York City two to three times a month... Now it's what? Vegas and that's it.

I know what it's like to have one helluva time getting off work.  The folks I work for, you can just forget about it!  We're down two employees now and it doesn't look like one's on the way in at all.  Just enough to cover the classrooms, but not enough for me to take my last two days of vacation before they're taken away from me.

Last year though, they took /everyone's/ vacation away from them.  We had /one/ week off at the end of the summer and *swoop* they came and snatched it.  Everyone else was all, "That's fine with me, we weren't getting paid for it anyway" and here I was groaning, "NO! We were going to Vegas!"  That was the one year we didn't make it.  Things are different now, having been there the longest I get 3 weeks off.  And I thought "Woah! I can make it to some UK cons this year!"  And every. single. one. I have missed. *grrrrrrr*

Hopefully some time in the future you'll be able to get to some UK Cons.  With me it's either that I can't get to things because school is still in session, or because when the cons are on in the UK I'm over in the USA - not that I mind that, it's just kind of ironic.

I think this means that we're bad for each other.

I doubt that.    I have to say that this year at Vegas really infected me with the con-bug.  I want to get to as many events as I can, and of course this comes incredibly late after the fact.  That's me... late to break from the gate.
