Hi all!
Good to hear you all are so up to date on my projects, you are great fans! Thank you for supporting me so wholeheartedly after Trek. As you all know I just shot a pilot for NBC and fingers crossed it will go to series. I really was blown away with the quality of the production and feel so blessed to have been surrounded by such awe inspiring talent. I had so much fun working on the pilot and loved being LAPD (again), this character was a joy to inhabit and I really hope that I get to develop her more and continue working with all these brilliant people.
From what I saw and heard, the show looks incredible- and think that audiences would love it.
Also my short film is finally finished and went to it's first festival - The San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival where we got some great write ups. The SFIAFF is a great festival with the most prestigious Asian American talent involved- it was a great honour for us to be included. Hopefully I will be able to make it so that you all can access it through my site or a link. I just went to the Cleveland convention and had a great time meeting fans and going to the rock and roll hall of fame. My theater company is hoping to do a new play called "Please Stop Talking" this coming summer. I saw it done in New York at the Cherry Lane Theater and approached the director- a very talented young Dutchman named Erwin Mass about bringing it to LA with him to direct.
So that is all that has been percolating with me and as always I am just trying to 'do the good work and keep the faith' words that Gary Oldman said to me on a taperecorder.... long story and one of the great bragging points of my life.

So I say the same to you all, do the good work and keep the faith!

Hello everyone,
I am sure you all know but I thought I would tell you all myself- my pilot has been picked up!!!!
I am so excited to be working on this new project and be developing this character over the next year. We are a midseason replacement on NBC Sunday nights at 10pm after The Apprentice. I want to thank everyone for all the good energy put out there for me and say that I really appreciate and am grateful for the support. Start tuning in January, it is going to be a really fantastic show!

Also huge congratulations to John Billingsley and to Jeri Ryan, both actors who I love and am so happy for!

We've met you a few times, first on the set at Enterprise, with my daughter, Claire, on a Make a Wish visit, in 2003, and then in Toronto and Cleveland over the past couple of years. Carol and I (Claire's parents from Buffalo, NY) have become fast fans of Raines and wish you the best of luck on this show. Hope it has a long run.

Last night's episode, on the comic book artist, was great!

What does Star Trek mean to you?

The death of Gene Roddenberry had a great deal of personal meaning for me. I was just a fan, like so many others; I was in my idealistic 20's, waiting passionately for another installment of Next Generation when he died. I had been raised on the original series. I contemplated stars as a child and engaged in amateur astronomy in my youth, primarily based on a nostalgic identification with the themes that Star Trek had inspired in me. Gene died, and while he passed his legacy onto some great visionaries (Piller & Berman & co.), the idea that was his suffered a little bit in me. It hurt me to have him pass from this world.

The Star Trek franchise is so much more than merely a vehicle for advertising dollars to those of us that subsumed the premise of the show into our psyche. It is so much more than the network executives vision of a space-action show crossed with Wagontrain.

It is that idea that the Star Trek franchise inspires in its fans which the network executives seemed to miss. They certainly missed it when they cut three seasons off of Enterprise.

And it is that idea that I'd like some of you all to discuss. I feel, personally, somewhat responsible that Piller and Berman aren't giving the world Star Trek right now. If I'd been a better fan, had communicated more of why Star Trek wasn't just another show, perhaps I could have connected with a few more people, and we'd still have a healthy science fiction vista in front of us. If each of us had done so, I know we could have staved off the advertising decline which struck at the heart of the Star Trek franchise. We'd still be dreaming.

I'll start.

A lot of people don't understand science fiction. In their minds it is easily reduced to robots and space ships and people in weird rubber headgear. For me science fiction is nothing short of a vision of who we are, as a species, and what we can be.

The original series gave popular culture many things for which it could be thankful. We no longer had criminals that were merely thieves - we had criminals that were leaders engaging in genocide (Conscience of the King, Patterns of Force); there were visions of racial integration during a time when America struggled mightily with the concept (Plato's Stepchildren - Kirk/Uhura first interracial kiss on television); and the show discussed, and made us think about, all manner of realistic astronomical problems from asteroids destroying the planet (Paradise Syndrome) to disease extinction events destroying our species (Miri, etc.).

The show was a vehicle for a progressive, and forward-thinking view of potential problems that mankind has to face. These aren't trivial and easily solved issues, either. Star Trek, for the time, was a vehicle for considering what makes us human, and what that means for our future fate as a species.

These aren't things which garner a large audience, of course. It is hard to think about things as troubling as the extinction of our species, or the proper orientation of a society to limit dictators and genocide.

The Next Generation (after a slightly rocky start) continued the great legacy before it. We had the nature of human rights passed into Data (Measure of a Man), and all manner of discussions about the nature of the human experience. Particularly poignant are episodes like Chain of Command with Ronnie Cox torturing Patrick Stewart in an episode that Amnesty International found to be accurate and illustrative of torture techniques. Would that American leadership had as much vision about what they command done, every day, in their pursuit of their brand of justice.

But Star Trek wasn't just about preachy ideals of egalitarianism - it promoted it too. Avery Brooks and Kate Mulgrew did so much more with their roles than be a token black and female captain - they were commanders in their own right. The vehicle of their role was provided to them but they proved, through example, both their own talent, and the impact that all of us can make - regardless of race and gender.

I can't say that I think we wouldn't have American women leaders without Star Trek's example, but I can say that real life mimics fiction more readily than people realize.

The Star Trek franchise has always been there pushing the envelope, and showing humanity more than just what we are, but what we can be.

And that's really why the death of the franchise is something for all of us to think about, consider, and strive to overcome.

It's why I love the series, and its why I show it to my children.

We can be more than we are; Star Trek has always known that. That is a show worth promoting.

Jeff Goldblum is brilliant to work with, he is such a creative and completely dedicated actor. As a human being, he is very open and full of wonder- not only towards his work but with everything.

It is something I am definitely curious about. I have a friend who works on the production side of it with Robert Zemeckis, so I get to hear the technical aspects of making motion capture. I think I am more curious about it from a film making, producing standpoint. I don't know that i would like to be covered in dots.

I will see John occasionally (and so happy to see him when I do!) but it has been a while since I have seen the others. Funny thing is that working on Raines I have come across guest stars (we had one Maco!) and people on crew. It is really a small industry.

>Which film actor would you like to work with the most?
Gary Oldman of course. Do you guys not know of my obsession? It really has been a life long constant.

>Do you play any sports?
I consider dancing to be a sport, although sadly not endorsed.

>Looking back over your acting career so far, would you have done anything >different?
I would not have done anything differently, I am luck to say that I don't have any regrets.

>Would you like to work in the UK?
I have done a play in the UK and as well as having trained and lived there. I would love to do another play there, somewhere with a smaller house but amazing talent like the Almeida or the Donmar.

>Which do you prefer - film, TV or stage acting and why?
There is not one that I prefer over the other, really I just prefer quality work. Doesn't matter in which medium.

>Who was your favourite guest actor on Enterprise?
Probably whenever we had Next Gen people come on, it was like family visiting.

>Dominic expressed a desire to direct, is that something you'd like to do?
I would love to direct but more than that I am interested in writing. That is a medium I have always been interested in. I think I would direct something that I wrote.

>When you're not working, how do you like to spend any free time?
Spending time with my loved ones, travelling and going to dance class.

The Genesis planet...

"NBC has ceased production on Jeff Goldblum's psychic cop drama Raines. NBC halted production after just 7 episodes, instead of the 13 originally ordered. NBC plan to air all 7 episodes from March."

Last night I watched the first four or so episodes of Star Trek: Enterprise for the very first time and I must say that Miss Park's acting has impressed me quite a lot (especially in the episode with the hanging cadavers and sluggo). She's up there with Anthony Hopkins, Kiefer Sutherland, Dennis Haysbert and Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

Also, I must say that the way she was written, Hoshi Sato is a very beautiful human being. She's very kind, nice, loving and gentle. Brilliant work done with her. I heard she complained a lot, but I did not find it annoying in the least. I thought her massive dissatisfaction with a lot of things around her as well as her being very vocal about it made her very human. In some ways much more than the other characters and for this I found her very pleasing. In this type of shows the characters are usually happy with most everything and rarely complain or they try to act all badass and take everything in silence. Hoshi Sato is a breath of fresh air that was desperately needed. Excellent work, Miss Park. Sure would love to see you in one or both of my favorite TV shows: 24 or Lost! THAT would make my day, BIG TIME!

Hi Guys,

I am new to this forum and would like to be courteous and introduce myself to everyone!:). My name is Alex and I am from the UK, although I split my time between LA, New York and London. I work as a celebrity photographer (basically a polite way of saying I am a paparazzo!) and have been taking pictures of Linda since 2001. I just recently stumbled across this forum and thought I would give you good fans the heads up as to where Linda is as I am often in her lovely prescence at numerous events - albeit behind steel with the rest of the paparazzi animals:D.
Yesterday (22nd July) I photographed Linda at an event I was covering in Pasadena California, it was an NBC summer party. She was alone and appears to be single once again, she looked absolutely stunning in a very plain white dress and was wearing little makeup. I will post something short anytime I spot her so you guys know where she is:cool:
