Very difficult - I 've only seen it once courtesy of someone else's copy. I tried to find a copy to buy but with no luck. I can tell it is worth it though - Connor is very good in it.

Hi, I know this was posted a long time ago but where'd you see Far East? I've been trying to get my hands on it and even called up PBS... No one seems to have a copy.

To tell you the truth - I am really interested in the theatre and I particularly like productions set in World War 2 (always been fascinated with that period in history). Thats why I thought I was familiar with it (and was sort of, although my memory was kind of distorted on it) - and prompted me to look it up on the net. Hope they air it in the UK sometime. I may have actually seen the play although I don't recall - but then I have seen so many. We have three good theatres where I live - so going to see a live production has played a big part of my childhood and adult life. I love it.

Judging by the expression in the picture - looks as it he has just read my inappropriate comments in this thread!

Hey it's not a problem - we're all entitled to our opinions and mine are probably the same as yours. But for an actor it's simply a case of portraying a character truthfully. I won't be rushing out to see Brokeback Mountain but Heath Ledger's preformance is by all accounts heartbreaking and I that's just him doing his job. If an actor takes a role he or she isn't there to make moral judgments, only to 'be' that person as honestly as possible. And if we, the audience, don't like the subject matter then we simply don't see the film.

The consequences for Connor's character at the time this film was set were catastrophic because of the prevalent homophobia in society and more so in the armed services and it was interesting to look back with our more modern eyes at what was happening to such people so short a time ago.

You're absolutely right of course. I suppose I found it shocking at first. I think I have a typically British attitude when it comes to that sort of thing (the way I have been brought up I suppose) - but when in Rome, do what the Romans do. Actually, although initially dissapointed I think he was quite brave to play a role like that. Can't of been easy.

Yeah, Philadelphia was a good'n, Tom Hanks is a very good actor and versatile as well. I remember that winning quite a few awards.

Don't see why you should be disappointed - Connor is an actor and that means his motivation is to portray as wide a range of characters as possible without reference to any moral judgments. It's just his job after all - whatever my own feelings on the subject, it doesn't detract from a great performance. And with his features and range of expression he is ideal to play roles that demand a lot of sensitivity. Don't like the idea of Connor Trinneer playing someone who 'bats for the other side' but it sounds like an interesting production. He has dissapointed me now.

I still think he could do better in the movies along the lines of 'Meet the Fockers' and family movies such as that. I still say he could be the next Tom Hanks if he wanted to be.

How awful.

It is set during the war - but the 'a' plot centres around a relationship between an American soldier and an oriental girl (which yes is frowned upon by his family). The 'b' plot concerns Connor's character who has been stealing secret documents and passing them on to the enemy as he is being blackmailed because of his homosexuality.Connor's performance is the best thing about the film which suffers too much from being a filmed play with no effort to make it feel otherwise.

I haven't seen this film, probably not out in the UK but I think I might be familiar with the play Far East. Is that about claiming an inheritance or something and its set in World War 2? I have not seen it in theatre either but I think I may have heard of it.

Oh, this idea is not mine. It's the next step in the "Save Enterprise" campaign that has been going on for quite sometime.
I do believe in it very much, though. I mean, come on, if someone could produce American Pie direct to dvd, why not Enterprise?

Well, I really believe they should have some kind of Enterprise movie or miniseries... Especially now when it's Trek's 40th anniversary 2006...:) And, yay, that way we could have Trip back as well if it embraced the topic of timetravel... :) Very nice indeed.

The best ones pop up at night...(ideas that is). Mind you, being responsible for the resurrection of Trip sounds good. Life giving hands. Hmmm...The things I could do with that kind of ability.

As far as I know, Connor's been in 2 independent films. One was called "Duncan's Shadow" and the other "Raindogs". I don't recall where I saw this information, but I wrote down the 2 titles in hopes of finding them one day. So far, no luck.

He was also briefly (and I mean briefly, as in don't blink or you will miss him) in the HBO film *61. I believe that is listed at IMDb, though.

I can't believe such a talented actor as Connor hasn't been snapped up for movies. Has he ever mentioned auditioning for a movie role?
