Unless I plan to keep my stuff private forever, I will have to show it to somebody at some point in time. The average person on the internet (or someone you meet on the street) might be random and possibly untrustworthy, but I am far more suspicious of people who have the means to dupe me. They usually have money and the position to back themselves up, not to mention friends all over in high places. If someone like THAT wanted my stories and they were the FIRST I showed them to - whoops! Stupid me. I learned that lesson early when I composed a song and shared it with the leader of the school band. Everyone knew him and his singer and no one knew me. I showed it to him hoping to collaborate further - and what do you think happened? Suddenly he and his singer had no more time for me and the next time they performed, they played a song with circa 75% similarity to mine. When I complained, no one took me seriously. After all - who was I? As far as everyone was concerned, I was just pissed that they had rejected me.
If I had shown more people what I'd worked on, I would have had some form of a case. That is why I present my material on the internet and let people talk about it, criticize it and associate it with me. The more that see it, the merrier. I am leaving my traces and getting excellent feedback in the process - and even though I know I don't stand a chance against one of those "rich people" (the sort with all the connections we've been complaining about), I will nonetheless have a very large audience to whine to. :P

That is my philosophy, but I can understand your fears. Creative theft is like somebody ripping something out of you; it is irrevocable and leaves you feeling used and empty, as though someone has just raped your brain.

I write all kinds of things, from humorous anecdotes to horror stories. I even have a novel that's almost finished. I've never created a character with an actor in mind, however. I tend to whip up their appearances in my head and then try to draw them on paper, so I wouldn't really know how to cast my stories at all. I just know one thing - any attempt to put people like Tom Cruise or Arnold Schwarzeneggar in a role of mine would result in immediate withdrawal of any existing agreements. I would, in fact, be in favor of casting lesser known actors in general, to free my stories of any sort of preconceived judgement.

Could you imagine Connor in a horror story? As a good guy or a bad guy? Or perhaps the tragic anti-hero?

RE: Brad's a Connor lookalike!
Exclusionzone (6/13/2009)
Try writing your screenplays down. It's a lot of fun. I used to run around at airports, handing out copies of my stories, figuring that someone was bound to get bored enough on the plane to read them. I guess I just didn't hand them to the right people though, because I never did get that special call offering me millions for a book deal. I'm sure I just didn't select the billionaire film producer, publisher types carefully enough, even though I tried to stay away from economy class.
Or... maybe I just suck?
Naaah.
What kind of roles did you have in mind for Connor?
 No, I didn't mean I wasn't writing them down, just not down completely yet. I've got like 4 or 5 things going at a time, and then life tends to interrupt the process (or just certain people that claim they will not bother me while I am writing and never follow through on that). I'm just glad that the ideas usually come into my mind completely and vividly so that when I don't get the opportunity to get it down on paper, or what have you, I don't lose the story.

Anyway, as for roles for Connor, nothing where his character gets killed! :D No, just pretty meaty dramatic stuff. Can't say more because I'm not much of a sharer. :Whistling: I learned at a very young age that if you don't share things (that are still in progress) with people, they can't take them away from you and you are free to complete your vision your own way! That being said, what kind of stuff do you write? :Wow:

RE: Brad's a Connor lookalike!
Allee (6/11/2009)
So true. I'll bet that some of them would rather run us over than simply have us forcibly removed by security. There's no fun in the latter.

Try writing your screenplays down. Or, as I've often observed: "how many butts you are willing to kiss". I'm sure that there are many of us out there who would be more than willing to give Connor and others like him roles in the films we will never get to make.... because we don't have the connections.
I am also, for example, sick and tired of seeing the boring children of directors, actors, producers, screenwriters, ect. being placed in so many top films. I mean, what's going on? Genetic engineering? Why would I want to see a boring, run of the mill Kirsten Stewart or Evan Rachel Wood when there are so many more interesting, talented, striking candidates out there? How many "originals" lost out to these girls?
Hollywood needs more originals, not their better connected copies. But who are we to complain? We don't know the right people!

RE: Brad's a Connor lookalike!

Well sadly in the industry it probably just means that Brad Pitt is better connected with the people that matter than Connor is - simple as that!

RE: Brad's a Connor lookalike!

The less renowned are always doomed to bite the sour apple. Until their time comes.
I have often seen more "popular" people emulate the traits, qualities and talents of their lesser known inferiors. Any questions of "who copied whom" are replace by the notion of "who receives more attention".

I do find Connor more pleasant and interesting to watch than Mr. Pitt, particularly considering his significant ability to create comical situations. He should definitely try getting some funnier roles - he also has enormous potential for romantic comedies. That "kicked dog" look coupled with a certain dose of unwarranted arrogance seems to work there quite well. I do recall both Hugh Jackman and Simon Pegg in such roles - and look at them now.
I don't really understand why a sleeping pill like Brad Pitt gets all the good roles and the more talented "lookalike" doesn't. You can create the same amount of hype using Connor - it could just as easily be him playing the leading man. Most of a celebrity's "appeal" is largely just a factor of suggestion, associated with levels of fame, press and success.
But, then again.... what do I know about Hollywood? I'm just a geek kid sitting behind a computer! :D

RE: Brad's a Connor lookalike!

You are SOOOOOO not alone. Once in a while I notice an expression on Connor's face that will remind me of something similar in Brad's, but honestly I believe Brad Pitt should be getting complimented on remotely looking like Connor Trinneer and not the other way around. :D

RE: Brad's a Connor lookalike!

Am I the only person on the planet who thinks that Brad Pitt is rather boring? He always gives me the feeling that he's about ready to fall asleep. Even in his rather hyperactive roles he appears to be thriving on an unnaturally high dose of caffeine. (To help keep himself awake).
I probably stand alone here. :D
And no, I am not an envious male out to diss the competition. :P

As to whether or not Connor Trinneer looks like Brad Pitt - well, aside from appearing more lively and conscious than Mr. Pitt, I suppose the two smile similarly. And often have the same hair.

RE: Brad's a Connor lookalike!

I'm guessing Brad!! It makes you wonder what Connor has to do to get a role in a big blockbuster film where he'll get noticed more. But at least he's still working on tv and in smaller films so that's good :)

RE: Brad's a Connor lookalike!

Yes I had noticed this and the trouble with it is that with any big film role coming up which one is going to get picked every time??!!

Brad's a Connor lookalike!

Has anyone noticed how much Brad Pitt looks like Connor in the film Burn After Reading?! When I saw a still from it the other day I had to look twice because I thought it was Connor! :hehe:
