For us VIPs it started quite early, we had our special photoshoot with all the available actors at 9.30 already. Fortunately, the previous night was quite relaxed and we were all quite rested. We had a delightful little photoshoot with Connor, Peter Williams (Stargate's Apophis), Lolita Fatjo en last-minute addition Neil Roberts from "Charmed". No Jonathan Woodward yet, though.

And of course, when it is my turn, this "frakked" hula workshop pops up again in the conversation (thanks, Neil! ). So Connor and I confirm the wager once again....
Another funny incident, just when my husband Bill is standing there to take a picture, Connor turns towards him. I first thought he was going to kiss him, but he simply had to sneeze...on my hubbies collar. Poor guy had absolutely nowhere to turn, so he simply could not help that. Connor's remark: "I will sign that if you want to".

OK, that hula workshop happens: I get five dancers plus actor Neil Roberts with whom we have twenty minutes of fun. For those of you who want to know: I picked this up when in my younger years I used to do free-lance showwork, not in Hawaii but on the island of Gran Canaria. We did a Polynesian show there, that's how. Since the party theme was Lost an since the show Lost is shot on Hawaiii....there you go...the connection.

Connor's photoshoot is next on my agenda and it turns out that most of the crowd want to have their picture taken with him. We are at the end of the very long line, and when it is our turn, Connor confides to us that he's really, really tired. I coul happily tell him that his Q&A had been postponed for half an hour so he could get some R&R after the 'shoot. And I give him a little report about the workshop after receiving a pat on the back for showing up in my "muumuu".

Due to various obligations elsewhere I had to miss the first half of Connor's Q&A. I was in time though to see him elaborate on the lack of rehearsal the cast normally got and actually demonstrating us how this is done. This proved to be a recurring theme in his later performances. More of the usual questions, though.

At the autograph session I get another thing of my wishlist done: Connor personalizing my pictures. Until now I only have his autographed pics: most cons don't allow personalizations since it takes up way to much time. Then the surprise of the day: without asking anything, he writes down "To Ron". I am like: "Gee, man, you remember" and his reponse: "Of course, buddy".

I skip dinner etc. and move on to the party night. When I get in, the Star Trekking convention dance is about to start, so everyone is getting on the floor. Not Connor, but he has stood up to watch (we had told him about this particular habit at this con) us do all the silly things that pertain to this litttle dance (and con favorite).

And then it was time for the actor's show contribution. This time they were going to read some kind of Ruler of the Universe contest script (with Connor as a Wraith, obviously). The problem was only that this was meant for seven actors and we got only five. So some of them had to double and also a lot of improv. Whatever was supposed to happen, I still don't know (thanks, Jonathan and Neil for utterly destroying the timeline...) but it was extremely funny, alright.

It was also quite an experience to see Connor actually acting from a script, however foolish it was. Did I mention he's a pro?
My secret wish was actually for him to deliver a Shakespeare monologue, but not all my wishes can come true, can't they?

So after that, for us it was party time until the wee hours.

And on to day three.... (gee, I finished day 2!!)

RE: Connor in Holland @Utopia

OK, part one of my report, which starts on Friday afternoon. We arrived rather early in the hotel to build up my husband's very first art stand.
We are therefore rather busy, running to and fro.
My first encounter with Connor was a good one: I get out of the elevator, get distracted because I see someone I know and almost run over the poor guy who was standing just around the corner. "Hi, welcome", shake hands and "I am rather busy now, we'll talk later OK?" on my part...(which translates as: "I just told Connor I don't have time for him now, make an appointment , please", my personal coach would be so proud..... )

Then our first event, the VIP champagne party. A bunch of Tuckerites and myself, holding a glass of bubbly and of course Connor is in our midst.

What did we talk about? Well, a lot of things. About his previous visit to The Netherlands and his fascination for Amsterdam and the Dutch art. I help him to a brochure about a Bruegel and Rubens exhibitation which just opened this weekend, right in the center of the Hague. Then we inform how Jasper is doing and we get an update. We spend some time discussing whether it is wise or sensible to fly with smalll children Jasper's age and the consensus is that it is not: Jasper is therefore much happier with his grandparents for this week.

And then someone mentions that I will do a hula dancing workshop the next day, which somehow seems to fascinate Connor, he wants to know how in the world I got into that. I promise to at least show him my hula outfit and then we make a wager: I will show up in that costume at the photoshoot with him (and I won, you'll see when that photo becomes available). At this point other actors join our crowd and a more general discussion begins.

Later that night, at the cocktail party (which is for the first 75 ticketholders), I have the lucky opportunity to talk a bit in private with him at the bar, but since that is private I won't tell you about it...

And that is basically day one. I must admit it was one of the things on my wishlist, to actually have a chat with him over a glass of whatever. So I can erase that one: it happened.

Onto day 2 (maybe tonite I'll have time for that)...

RE: Connor in Holland @Utopia

Welcome back from Utopia Ron !.....I could not wait for you to come back and tell me !!! ;)

RE: Connor in Holland @Utopia

Wow!!
