The Cornish tre- prefix came to my mind as well. In Irish, there may be a connection with the word "trean, treine" : "strength, power, intensity" , so "treanaire" could mean something like: " the one with strength", "the one with power". For a surname, this would do well, I think....

RE: Which are Connor's origins ?

.....It's very intresting these thing Flaffy, also because more of you my friends are english , irish, cornish, scottish or from wales and so your informations for me are precious to know a lot, about our loved Connor....I am from north Italy and I think my origins was celtics too, cause in ancient times here in these areas came celtic populations.... A lot of Cornish names begin with Tre... Trevelyan, Trelawney etc. so his roots could be in either place.

RE: Which are Connor's origins ?

Sure Ron, if Connor had really french origins, all this explain why he love so much France...he's married in Provence....he went in Paris for his honeymoon, these summer it seems he had spend his vacations in Cote d'azur. The most famous person with that name was the legendary King Conchobar mac Nessa who reigned in Emain Macha and who features in the story of Deirdre and the Sons of Uisnech.

The surname "Trinneer" has been claimed as either French or Irish. If it is Irish, it does not follow the traditional way Irish names are formed, but a few centuries of anglicising could do the trick.

RE: Which are Connor's origins ?

....That he was born in Washington State,( exactly in Walla Walla) and he was growing up in Kelso, I had get to know....but about his Cherokee origins is very interesting thing !!!! I just looked up the meaning of the name 'Connor' and it does have Irish origins. Apparently it means 'champion' and is one of the most illustrious of Irish names!

My name is Phil and Philip means 'Wild Horses'!!! I wouldn't mind but horses tend to go wild if I go anywhere near one.

RE: Which are Connor's origins ?

I can't say that I've ever read about Connor's origins though, with a name like his, it sounds as though there should be an Irish connection.

Maybe someone can ask him at the Utopia con in a few weeks?

Which are Connor's origins ?

I think Connor's name had Irish origins. Few days ago I'd read one book that used to speak about Uther Pendragon ( King Arthur's father ) and wizard Merlino ( I don't know if in english the name is the same ! ) a book between history and legend. This book also told about celtic populations and a lot of soldiers, one of those was named Connor who fighting for the conquer more lands they had to own. What do you know something about it ?
