He looks as gorgeous as ever!! In picture 7 it looks like he's saying "Now you get out there and win the match"......in picture 20 where he has his arms folded, he looks stern as if he's gonna give out a lecture!!

not to be picky, but you really should edit your sig line and spell Dominic's name right.

anyone who knows me knows what I'm like with the spelling of name's, lol. took me long enough to train dominic, then he just got confused again and probably can't spell it anymore.

It seems like this movie could be good but what has the director done? never heard of him. went to the site and didn't see a mention of their movie at all?

In the long run, yes, shorts tend to be about recognition and adding to your cv. But there are other constraints, like budget, film stock, time etc. Heck, some stories are just best told between 5 and 30 minutes, it's about the story being told in the right amount of time.

Also, some people just prefer to make a short rather than a feature. But most use it as a platform for heading up the ladder, so to speak. Crew and actors alike.

It's not that it doesn't get released, they do get audiences, just not general population in main stream cinema. In the UK, channel 4 regularly show short films at night (they used to anyway, as a showcase) and I think the beeb do too. I'd hope american stations do similar, so they get a tv audience, but they still need a distributor to get even that, hence the festival circuit.

Partially. It's also to make connections. Even a short film with a writer or director who is building a good reputation in the industry is a desirable thing.

I am not Lindsey nor am I a film student, just a fan. People make short films to get big films. Its like a test for everyone involved i guess. I bet these kids want to make this into a real film? What role does Dom play? Is he a major charector? I guess the writter wrote for Star Trek. Is it a sci fi movie? It doesn't sound like one? Cool stuff what ever it is.

Festival circuit can take a year, maybe more of touring it before anyone picks it up, so the likes of CJ, HK, this etc could all be a while before we see them. Most may not get picked up for cinematic release but distributers may be interested in dvd releases etc.[/quote]

Linsey, you're a film student so you'd probably know the answer to this, why do they make short films when the odds are they won't get picked up? Is it to get work out there on the Festival Circuit as a showcase and hope by word of mouth that the film gets recognition?

A short film is unlikely to be picked up by national mainstream cinemas, however, arthouses may show it. If it's successful. In the UK it is VERY difficult to see any short films in cinemas, they just don't play, mainly because they are shorts.

Like Wollem said, it depends on how well it does at Film Festivals. If it's a big success we might be able to see it at cinemas if it's picked up by a national distributor.

The film's still in post production so it'll probably be ready in a few weeks time.

We'll have to be patient and wait for any more news. :)

"Festival circuit" means it's going to be entered in film festivals, with showings only at those venues. Films that do well at festivals frequently show up at your local art cinema, and if they do really well, they may be picked up by a national distributor.[/quote]

I heard about this film. It will be alot different then the usual roles Dominick plays. What a great cast. How do we find out more about it. When it will be done. Where we can check it out. GREAT WORK DOMINICK it is good to see you are doing a different type of story. Can't wait to see it!:hehe:

Director Topher Straus ( Extra, Krush ) and Producer Brian Knappmiller ( Monster House, Blue Caviar ) have officially wrapped production on their new film, THE ATTACKMEN starring Nick Slatkin ( The Clique, Best Friend’s Date ). The project was based on Slatkin’s personal story of being one of the few Jewish students in an all-Catholic private school. Award winning writer Shari Goodhartz ( Star Trek: The Next Generation ) was brought on board to pen the script.

THE ATTACKMEN stars the acclaimed actors Marshall Bell ( Capote ), Dominic Keating ( Star Trek: Enterprise ) Jeffrey Combs ( The 4400, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine ) and Michael Shamus Wiles ( Fight Club, Magnolia ). Robert F. Smith lensed the 35 millimeter short and Adam Weiss ( Reunion, Bull Durham ) is editing. The musical score for THE ATTACKMEN will be composed by Aaron Zigman, who recently lent his composing talents to the Nick Cassavetes films “The Notebook” and “Alpha Dog”.

Straus describes why so many experienced and talented people were drawn to the film. "Nick came to me with his incredible story, and I immediately wanted to be a part of it. Everyone can relate to the emotions it deals with. Though we all come from different backgrounds, we still have our own stories about hate and how it has affected us."

THE ATTACKMEN is a term in lacrosse for the forward most team members playing offense in this aggressive sport. And the game of lacrosse means everything for Jordan Simms ( Nick Slatkin ) and Chris Wheatley ( Ryan Carlberg ), two players from opposite ends of the religious tracks who come to realize that their parents' values aren't their own, all as a life-changing game nears.

Slatkin’s story was based on his experiences from childhood. "Even though I was raised in a Jewish household, my parents sent me to Christian schools, hoping they'd provide me with the best education," Slatkin explains. "The one thing I knew was that I was going to have some sort of confrontation with the other kids. That experience had such a profound affect on me, I knew that I had to make "The Attackmen".

Post Production will be completed in Spring, 2006 and REEL DREAMS plans to compete with "The Attackmen" in the festival circuit.
