I finally got my copy, and got to watch it yesterday. Horror is not my usual fare, but I have to say I did quite enjoy it.

I thought Dominic made a chillingly menacing villain - mad in a disturbingly sane way, if you know what I mean. Everything he did was rational and logical in his own mad world.

One thing I didn't like was that parts were so dark it was impossible to see what was happening: I don't understand the modern obsession with filming in the dark. Maybe I should start a campain to send lightbulbs to Hollywood! :) In relation to HK in particular, I would have expected Fenway to want to watch everything in glorious Technicolor, not dodgy monochrome. Maybe he thinks he's making art movies.

So, I'm glad I've seen it, and I did enjoy it, but a little more gore and detail would have been nice. Imagination is all powerful, but it works better for being well fed.

I agree pensive :)...... I've always liked psychological horror rather than gory films and I think in Hollywood Kills it's the scariness of not knowing what's going to happen next, combined with Dominic's truly menacing performance as Fenway that makes it a great film :)

I don't like gory films and I was fine after watching it! You don't see rivers of blood and the filming's done in such a way that it cuts away quickly so you don't get stomach churning close ups!

my copy arrived today so it didn't take long to get to america :) will watch tomorrow night, too tired this evening to pay attention and I don't want nightmares of working in my kitchen at work to be influenced with god knows what horror elements happen in the movie!

it'll be much better on a night off :)

If anyone's bought Hollywood Kills or you're planning to buy it, look closely at the newspapers scene near the beginning of the film......especially the pics ;)..:hehe: There's a fun line in one of the newspaper articles too.......I wonder if Dominic saw it?!!

Yeah Dominic did a great job showing how Fenway coped with challenges!

All the cast were good but Dominic, Happy Mahaney and Angela DiMarco stood out for me.........with Dominic the best because he's so deliciously evil and oozes malevolence.....plus, I love his costume too :hehe:

Yeah the "skanky friend" line was great Pensive! I noticed too when Fenway asked James Dell what his ambitions were and he said to be happy.......Happy Mahaney's the actor playing James! I thought that was a good in joke put in by the writer :)

Dominic is very creepy as Fenway and when he yelled at Sarah he really sounded like a total psycho :w00t:

I am with [b]DomCat[/b]--I liked that the film got right to business.

DK did a great job as Fenway. I kept wanting to like him(come on, it's DOMINIC!) but found myself perpetually creeped out by him. There were multiple times where Fenway would say something or just [i]look[/i] at the camera a certain way, and I'd get shivers.

Another reason this movie freaked me out: whereas films like Hostel are only vaguely plausible, HWD Kills is unnerving because shit like that happens every day... people get suckered and then bumped off :exclamationmark: :ermm:

[i]edit[/i]--forgot to mention some lines I liked. The one about loyal employees being hard to find (tongue in cheek!), and "your skanky friend." Don't ask me why I giggled when DK said "skank." *shrug*

I got mine the other day and I've watched it! :D

The writer's come up with a good story that keeps you watching to see what scary things happen next and it's a tight script which means you don't get any meaningless scenes.

Dominic's brilliant as Francis Fenway, an ego maniac and sadistic film maker who lures young people to a secret Hollywood club. He gets them to confess their ambitions.......but they don't realise he'll use their ambitions against them in horrific ways.....

It's a good film that sets the storyline up quickly.....none of this waiting for 30 minutes before anything happens type of film! Dominic's soooooo good at playing baddies and he's seriously evil in this film, even when you just hear his voice off camera he's still scary.

It's rated 18 in the UK and it does have its gory moments, but I'm one who doesn't like gory films usually and I managed to watch it! It's got a good cast, it's atmospheric and I'd recommend it!

I was looking around the HMV website here in the UK and I happened to see that Hollywood Kills is available for pre-order :D.........it's not due for DVD release till 12th May 2008 though! :( Still, good to know it's on its way!
