If you go to this link then you can read the exact details on Sprint's plans with Ian Westbury. Also there are all three videos to watch/download (right click save link as.. only takes 2-5 mins on broadband). There's the music vid itself, the behind the scenes of the music vid, and the footage from the launch party (pics up at myspace).

well well, the lad has been busy!

there's a new blog up at the ian westbury myspace (handy to be subscribed to that!)

it's got all the information on what Ian is actually doing with Sprint.

I was just thinking what work he's done since Enterprise finished:

4 films - Certifiably Jonathan, Hollywood Kills, Beowulf, Species IV

2 short films - The Attackmen, Plugged

An episode of Las Vegas tv series

Plus, wasn't he offered a stage role and was asked about a possible role on Stargate Atlantis too?

What with all that and a possible ad campaign as well.......I'd say he's doing pretty good for himself!

I agree. In a profession where the unemployment rate is something like 85% Dominic has had pretty consistent work and must be considered as having had a good career. And as for this latest campaign or whatever it is - good for him.

Hardly. He's done more, simply post-Enterprise, than most professional actors ever get to do in their entire careers. And when you consider what he's done throughout his career - two successful series is nothing to sneeze at, professionally. If he retired today, I'd consider him as having been a highly successful, known actor. Again, that's more than most actors can say, so good on him.

And pffft... (sticks out tongue at you).

I don't see it as 'hitting rock bottom' at all.
Damn - this music video is everywhere, and this way, he's getting a lot of exposure.
I think it's fun and fabulous, and really a very Dominic thing to do. And lots of actors I know would probably kill for a job like that. I am sure that there is a very good explanation - if this is an advertising campaign, I have to congratulate the people responsible.

I do wonder what exactly this is, though. Cannot wait to find out more!

We don't know if the vid's part of some big advertising campaign or not but we'll get to know eventually. But if it is for an ad then good on yer Dominic! Lots of big name stars do ads these days and seeing Dominic on prime time tv or splashed across billboards in the US will give him massive publicity.

You know? This is [i]Dominic's[/i] message board. Not TrekBBS, or ST.com, or any other place that constantly puts down and [i]puts down[/i] and PUTS DOWN anyone and anything to do with Enterprise, rightly or wrongly. And frankly, I'm sick of it and I'm not gonna shut up about it in one of the actors' [i]own forums[/i].

You have a problem with some acting job that Dominic chooses to take? Talk the trash over there. Don't bring it to [i]him[/i]. There's a difference between critique and criticism.

You are basically a guest in this man's 'house' and you chose to take a dump in it. Rude doesn't even begin to cover this.

I'm sure there are actors who would disagree. Besides, a good advertising campaign can launch you back into the public consciousness and can further your popularity. I don't even live in America but I can point to the Mac adverts as one such campaign. Much like any movie, these things can be hit and miss too.

I wouldn't say anything until you see where it's heading.

Well let's hope you're right and it's a big ad campaign that he's doing.......as well as it being more work for him (and more money!) it could make him even more famous than he already is and lead to even more opportunities for him!

He's making an appearance in Mississippi in about 3 weeks time so maybe someone could ask him about Ian Westbury or he might let slip some info for us?!

hrm. it's a possibility but in my opinion that's just a coincidence. In the film he's a businessman, here he's an 80s glam rockstar who still has that kind of style in the present day owning a record store. And this is looking much more like advertising than for a film purpose. He only said to us before he was doing a short, he never mentioned he had signed on for an advertising gig. I think the ads came after.

I think I might have solved the mystery!

Dominic made a short film with Tim Russ in January called Plugged. (I did a Plugged topic a few weeks ago) Anyway, in the film Dominic is shown trying to make a phone call from various places (perched on the edge of a roof, up a tree etc).......and in the video Ian Westbury sings "call me"........so maybe the vid's a tie in with Plugged?

we assumed this was a phone ad (without having read imdb anyway) since it's copyrighted to Sprint Nextel. Possibly for payphones since Sprint own payphone services in the US but we don't know.

General consensus so far between vaguely knowledgeable fans (!) is that this is a viral advertising campaign launched on the tubes first and that there must be more to come until it grows to include more for the company itself. Especially considering the video has been put up on every vid website out there in the last few days. every time you google for it there are more and more links.

That's what we hope certainly. We want to hear more from fierce blue ascot!

p.s. t-shirt designs are already being thought up by some folks out there too. every band needs a logo tee :)

p.p.s. hopefully admin knows more and can tell us. or is laughing at our guesses and will hold out on us ;)
