| The jumpcon people themselves, on their website, say that jumpcon is new. They've never run a con before, and they say so. That's why I've been nervous about this from the start.
However, they say they've hired experienced event planners. And they do seem, at least on the surface, to have things in order.
But this is a new con, run by people who've never run a con before. It's run by fans.

No autographs, no photos, none of that stuff for me unless it's a real strange circumstance. This is why I bring cards.  But with an event like EXpo or Collectormania in the UK, or Jumpcon, if you don't buy an autograph or photo you're doing the actors out of their fee. I've lost count of the number of autographs/photos etc I've got from Dominic and Connor, but I wouldn't dream of going to one of these events without buying more. It's how the actors make their money, and to go and see them, talk to them etc without contributing to their funds seems dishonest to me. |
