| I read it on the Trek Fans United forum. Apparently, Dominic Keating mentioned it at a convention he was just at. Dominic and Connor are good friends.
Congratulations to the Trinneer family and welcome to the world Jasper! |

| So, in other words, it is not confirmed, nor verifiable. Rumors, in other words. I am sorry, but I will await an official statement from Connor before I start celebrating.

Bajor_Ron (10/17/2005) So, in other words, it is not confirmed, nor verifiable. Rumors, in other words. I am sorry, but I will await an official statement from Connor before I start celebrating.Wet blanket alert. Way to piss on a thread man. Please, please, watch your language. There is no need for such a response. All I am saying is that IMHO this is not the way to go for us fans. What someone says someone else heard Dominic say at a convention is not my idea of a reliable source. I am not saying DK is not reliable, and the people reporting what they've heard do so in good faith. It is the channel through which this message is coming that makes it unreliable, since there no way to find out independently if the statement is true or maybe someone misheard. A few months ago I have witnessed what this "friend from a friend from a friend heard" mechanism can do, when a Star Trek actress was pronounced dead by a simple mixup of names and people catching up on that without verifying the source. In the end, everything was set straight but I cannot imagine this being a nice experience if you are on the receiving end. As it says on my website "Connors Quotes" regarding my acceptance of news sources : Statements and quotes made during conventions or during lectures are only acceptable if an official transcript exists for the session. That means that I will not accept personal convention reports, except when I myself have attended the convention and thus personally can verify the alleged statements. For the same reason I will not include material that I have heard or collected myself, since I cannot verify myself ;-). Acceptable convention material includes: official transcripts, press statements or official convention video's or DVD's. The keyword here is "official", so for practical purposes I will obtain such material only from convention organizers. If you know such material exists, please provide me with a contact address of the convention organizer. I fail to see why I should refrain from this policy on this occassion. The more so because this is a private matter to Connor, and we are not supposed to talk about his private life here. I will wait when he's ready to tell us himself or through an official channel. And if that does not happen, well, it is after all a highly private matter, and not exactly my business, is it?
